REC National Convention 2011

The theme for the Convention was 'Going for Growth'.  With economic conditions remaining tough, finding new ways to compete was foremost on everyone's minds.

Delegates at the REC National Convention, held at Lancaster London on 29 September, heard from some high-profile speakers in recruitment, including:

Ralph Ardill, former Marketing and Strategic Planning Director, Imagination, who argued that business leaders need to 'listen in side the box' concentrating on what the business is already doing, and not to have too many idea.  Success, he said, is 99% alignment and 1% vision.

Dr Magnus Lindkvist, Director for Trendspotting and Future Thinking, Stockholm School of Entrepreneurship, said that the future is formed by small changes.  When he was growing up, he said, reading other peoples' thoughts was called Black Magic, now it's called Twitter! Businesses can look at trends to make good guesses and assumptions but the further forward you look, the more uncertainty there is.

Not only was this an ideal event for learning and inspiration, but it was also a chance to network with colleagues from the recruitment and employment industry.
